Kilo Code brings its “simple promise” to JetBrains with new alpha program
Kilo Code announced an alpha program for JetBrains intended to extend its existing feature set to the JetBrains ecosystem. The project states that community feedback will inform development.
A “simple promise” for developers
The project reiterates an initial set of commitments:
- Fully open source: code is available without “black boxes.”
- Your data stays yours: private code is not used to train models.
- Transparent pricing: no commission on API usage; costs match model providers’ rates.
How to join the JetBrains alpha
The alpha sign-up channel is “#alpha-jetbrains” on the project Discord at https://kilo.love/discord.
Following the alpha announcement, the update focuses on recent extension changes.
Extension updates: performance, marketplace filtering, and providers
Autocomplete performance improvements (experimental)
Kilo Code’s inline assist autocomplete—described as beta and labeled experimental—received a performance improvement by parsing chunks individually.
- To enable the experimental autocomplete: Settings → Experimental → Inline Assist.
- After enabling, a new Inline Assist tab appears in Settings.
Marketplace: filter by installed modes
A new marketplace filter allows listing only installed modes. The UI flow provided: open the Marketplace section and click on “All items.”
What’s next
The JetBrains alpha invites early testing and feedback via Discord. Beyond the alpha, the team indicates a return to routine extension releases, with this update focusing on performance improvements for experimental autocomplete, marketplace usability, and provider compatibility.
